Loading
The Load Menu appears in the File Section of the NFA ribbon. Select the Load Option from the drop down. The Load Data File Window appears. Navigate to the folder that contains the desired file. Narrow down the files that appear by changing the file type selection in the drop down menu next to the File Name Field.

To load a portfolio, select the appropriate *.nfp file. Click the OK Button. The Choose Portfolio Window appears. Select the destination for the loaded portfolio: initial, reference, or benchmark. For reference portfolios you must decide whether to replace an existing reference portfolio, in which case you must select the appropriate reference portfolio from the drop down menu, or to add a new reference portfolio. Click the OK Button. The portfolio loads to the designated location on the Portfolios Worksheet. If your portfolio has assets that do not match to the assets in the current investment universe the Optimizer prompts you to either rescale the portfolio or to place the unmatched assets' value into cash. Often this message acts as a reminder that you tried to load the incorrect portfolio. f you did intend to load a portfolio that doesn't match exactly, pick the most appropriate option for your situation.

To load a complete case, navigate to the appropriate *.nfoi file. Click the OK Button. The case loads everything from inputs to constraints.

To load an Estimator case, navigate to the appropriate *.nfei file. Click the OK Button. An Erase Current Case? Window appears. Click the Yes Button. The Estimator case, including correlations, risk, and return, loads. Continue to set up the investment problem before optimizing.

To load transaction costs, navigate to the appropriate *.nftc file. Click the OK Button. The transaction costs load to the Constraints Worksheet.

To load a constraint set, navigate to the appropriate *.nfcs file. Click the OK Button. Asset bounds, customized constraints and quadratic risk penalties populate the appropriate columns on the Constraints Worksheet. Investable asset bounds and customized constraints load to the Investability Constraints Worksheet.

To import tax lot files, enable Tax Lots and import a CSV file through the Taxes Menu.

To load an investability constraints set, navigate to the appropriate *.nfic file. Click the OK Button. Asset threshold and asset increment constraints load to the Investability Constraints Worksheet.

To load to stored results, select the Load to Stored Results Option from the Load drop down in the File section of the NFA ribbon. The Optimizer Info Window opens. Navigate to an Optimizer case file (*.nfoi) that contains the same assets as your current case. Click the Open Button. The case will now be available for comparison.

To import expense ratios, select the Import Expense Ratios Option. To make use of this option, you must enable expense ratios and tickers in the Display Menu, have a functioning internet connection, and This option requires enabled expense ratios, tickers, and an internet connection. Selecting this option overwrites the Expense Ratios Column on the Inputs Worksheet with current data from ETF.com. If information cannot be found at ETF.com, the current value will persist, so consider clearing the column before importing so that you can easily identify the expense ratios that did not update.

To import yields, select the Import Yields Option. This option requires enabled yields, tickers, and an internet connection. Selecting this option overwrites the Yields Column on the Inputs Worksheet with current data from Yahoo! Finance. If information cannot be found at Yahoo!, the current value will persist, so consider clearing the column before importing so that you can easily identify the yields that did not update.

To load relative variances, select the Load Relative Variances option. Navigate to a saved relative variances (.nfrv) file, and click the Open Button. It will then be possible to run rebalance test by selecting Rebalance Portfolios without running all the time-consuming calculations that run when Rebalance is selected.
